Import
Pronto Post accepts data from clients or list brokers in a number
of different ways. We receive and dispatch data via e-mail on
a regular basis, although this method is best suited to smaller
amounts of data. Generally this provides clients with a quicker
and cost effective means of transferring data. We also provide
a secure FTP site for faster transmission of large files with
encryption as necessary.
Data Formatting
Pronto Post can accept different file formats. The data is imported
into Pronto Post's in-house application software that handles a
wide variety of different file formats. Once processed, data files
are validated in several ways: including de-duping, address
correction and encoding.
Merge/Purge
How many times have you received two identical mail pieces from
the same company? At Pronto Post our merge/purge process
removes duplicate entries from your data using the phonetic
representation of key fields contained within the data ensuring
that addressee or company names which have been duplicated
(even if the spelling differs between the duplicated records) are
highlighted. For example our software recognizes that Mr. F
Jones of 280 Robin Rd. is the same person as Frank Jones of
280 Robin Rd. This process can be accomplished using the
following five sets of rules; individual, family, household, business,
or business-individual matching.
Presorting
Part of the presorting process is provided by the Post Office,
depending on the type of endorsement printed on the mail piece.
Pronto Post's Mailing Services also offers the manual sorting
of mail. Mail that cannot be processed on automated equipment
will be handled by this method. There are no mail piece size
limitations for manual sorting as long as the mail piece qualifies
for postal discounts according to USPS regulations. By using
the First Logic U.S. Presort to meet USPS regulations, customers
can also realize automated discounts for their manually sorted mail.

Database Modeling, Profiling and Analysis
Pronto Post understands that the quality of your data will influence
the success of your project. The first thing that we look at is data quality.
Data Quality is a measure of the value of data in relation to
potential data problems:
• Missing data records or data values
• Incorrect or out-dated data values
• Inconsistent abbreviations and spelling
• Inconsistent data formats and units of measure
• Inconsistent data organization
• Duplicate data
• Violations of data-rules or business-rules
Data quality can be analyzed in relation to a particular data quality rules,
making it possible to determine the importance of different data problems.
Database Profiling and Analysis is the process of analyzing a database
to determine its structure and internal relationships:
• The tables used, their keys and number of rows
• The columns used and the number of rows with a value
• Relationships between tables
• Columns copied or derived from other columns
Database Profiling can also include analysis of:
• Tables and columns used by different applications
• How tables and columns are populated and changed
• The importance of different tables and columns
Database profiling can be useful when planning and managing
data conversion and data clean up projects.
